The CPE Experience


Chaplaincy Services and Education of SHARE Foundation now offers Clinical Pastoral Education at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. This Part-time Extended program begins each September and continues through May for at
least 30 sessions [except holidays].

The program is designed for persons engaged in ministry within commuting distance of El Dorado. This CPE unit is open to ordained or licensed ministers, members of religious orders and
qualified laypersons. Preference is given to those actively involved as Chaplain Associates in healthcare ministry. CPE students serve as Chaplain Interns under supervision to assigned areas within the Medical Center of South Arkansas, providing a rich base of pastoral experience and varied opportunities for personal and professional development.

Admission Criteria

Admission is based on readiness to learn and ability to provide ministry.

Tuition is $ 400.00/unit with a $25.00 one-time, non-refundable application
fee.

Requirements

  • This Part-time Extended program requires approximately eight hours per week at the Medical Center of South Arkansas 8:15 am-2:30 pm on Thursdays for at least 30 sessions from September through May, plus On-Call rotation every other week from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am.
  • Chaplain Interns will not be required to stay on site overnight, but will respond [within 30 minutes] when paged from their homes. Pastoral visitation, seminars, and supervision are included within this time frame.

Accreditation

This Clinical Pastoral Education program complies with accepted CPE standards of the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy [CPSP].

It is affiliated with the UAMS Department of Pastoral Care and Clinical Education.
